How Silicone Structure Changes Kikuchi Toys
All Kikuchi Toys are made from 100% platinum-cured silicone. But the way that silicone is structured can completely change how a toy feels and moves.
A toy can be soft on the surface but still easy to guide. It can also be uniformly soft, flexible, and fluid—or use different levels of support in different sections.
Kikuchi® uses three main silicone structures.
Single-Density Silicone (Classic One-Piece Silicone)

Single-density means the entire toy uses one consistent firmness.
It creates a more unified feel: the whole shape bends, compresses, and moves together. This works well when flexibility is part of the intended experience and the toy does not need a separate internal core.
Kikuchi examples include Kraken and Pina Pop! (SENSATION system), Maru and Haven (STRETCH system).
Most commonly seen silicone toys are built in one density. However, single-density does not mean lower quality. It simply means one firmness is the best match for that design.
DualDensity™ Silicone Design

DualDensity™ combines:
- a softer head for entrance and outer layer;
- a more supportive inner core.
The outside compresses more gently against the body, while the core helps the toy keep its shape and direction.
Compared with a fully soft toy, it feels easier to guide and less likely to fold. Compared with a fully firm toy, the contact feels softer and less abrupt.
This structure is especially useful for larger shapes, progressive stretching, and longer toys designed to reach further inside.
Kikuchi DualDensity™ product examples include the Panther Series and Tide (STRETCH system), and Thorn Totem (SENSATION system).
Multi-Density Design

Some toys need more than one outer softness and one central core.
Multi-density designs use different firmness levels or support zones across separate parts of the toy. One section may need to remain extremely soft, while another needs more directional support and the base needs greater stability.
The main Kikuchi example is ODYSSEY:
- an extremely soft first section for flexible exploration;
- a supported middle section similar to DualDensity™ construction;
- a firmer lower core and base for stability (much higher density inside).
Not Glued. Not Coated. Integrated.
Multi-density production is not a coating.
It is not separate pieces glued together.
Different silicone densities are poured in stages, then heat-cured so they fuse into one integrated silicone body.
This requires more control than ordinary silicone pouring. Timing, temperature, material balance, and bonding all matter.
Kikuchi uses this process because some shapes need it to work properly.

There is no single structure that is best for every product.
